Buyer capability
Buyer is a capability, not a role — unlocks the Buy tab on top of any role.
Buyer is a capability, not a role. A capability, not a role. Anyone — Staff or Manager — can be set as a Buyer for a shop.
What a Buyer can do
- Use the Buy tab in shops they're a buyer for
- Pick items at the wholesaler for the active shopping run
Setting someone as a Buyer
In the staff edit sheet, every shop card has a Buyer toggle next to the role chips. Turn it on for any shop where the person should be able to use the Buy tab.
Automatic buyer privilege
Owners, Admins, and Managers automatically get buyer access in every shop they can see - they don't need the Buyer toggle. The toggle is for promoting Staff members. In the staff list, members with implicit buyer access show a small auto badge so it's clear where the privilege is coming from.
Per-shop buyer flag
Buyer is per-shop. A person can be a Buyer at Shop A but not at Shop B. This is the right model when one person handles ordering for a specific location.
What it doesn't change
Marking someone a Buyer only unlocks the Buy tab. It doesn't elevate their role - a Staff member with Buyer capability is still Staff everywhere else (can't invite others, can't change settings, etc.).
